About us

If you’re a foodie then you will love Syrup magazine! It’s a fresh, new food magazine all about the essence of food from ’seed to table’. Originally we started in the Bay of Plenty and now we are a national publication. We cover food news from around the country and feature our very own New Zealand artisan food producers. The style is unique and innovative with an emphasis on ‘real’. Syrup magazine is available in more than 300 stores or you can purchase online here. We are also a subscription magazine which you can order here. We welcome subsription orders from any part of the world!

Syrup magazine began in Spring 2007 when Angela Williams-Atkins an enthusiastic food expert and Horticulturalist and Sheryl Mangold, Graphic designer combined. Angela and Sheryl are passionate about the food scene. They found themselves so inspired by the number of people who they saw producing, cooking and selling fabulous food from their own corner of the region – they decided to produce a quarterly magazine, website and blog to celebrate our affair with food, in delicious living colour.

In each edition you can expect to see interesting food features from around New Zealand. Angela will share her tips for growing your own market-quality produce and we will be scouring the country for innovative cooking and food related products.

Syrup has some divine recipes to share with you, some so simple and delicious, your friends will not believe you made it from scratch and you will not believe you ever hosted a dinner party without it.
